The municipality of Envigado, Antioquia, Colombia, is part of the metropolitan area of the Aburrá Valley, which is made up of ten municipalities including Medellín. Envigado has a population of 242,000 spanning an area of 79.86 km2 and comprising of urban and rural areas. 

Through its participation in INTERLACE, Envigado aims to improve its environmental and developmental policies, whilst creating a community network to share knowledge and practical expertise on ecological structure and ecosystem restoration. Already a leading municipality for the management of protected areas, Envigado aims to serve as a municipal model for nature restoration and management.
