The City of Chemnitz in Saxony, Germany covers an area of 221 km² and is home to a population of 246,000. Major building activity has been taking place in Chemnitz’s centre since 1999, filling the vast open space left by WWII destruction and post-war demolition.

Working hand in hand with Chemnitz’s ‘master plan for urban nature’, INTERLACE will help Chemnitz preserve and expand urban nature. Chemnitz will implement restorative solutions for nature, that also address societal challenges, providing benefits for both human well-being and biodiversity. These interventions will help Chemnitz achieve its goal of being a liveable, resilient and inclusive city.
