As climate challenges intensify, Europe's cities are at the frontline of climate change impacts, resulting in a clear call for adaptation to climate change in cities. The latest European Environment Agency (EEA) report on climate change adaptation in cities emphasises the urgency and importance of strengthening society's resilience to climate change.
As temperatures are rising faster than the global average, cities are increasingly and more frequently affected by climate-related events in Europe. Urban areas, with their dense infrastructure and population, are particularly vulnerable and face an increased risk of flooding, heat waves, water scarcity and more.
